What I learned from HamletDreams 2001:

"Vertical Narratives" are possible because of the hypertext's nature. The Shakespeare's play is linear (chronological) -- and breaking the text into smaller parts (french scenes, for example, as we did in the 12th Night, or even the beats of action) allows us to compose a new narrative by choising the order of links. We try the thematic principle (love, death and so on) and the character-oriented compositions. In short,
